The Diamond Jubilators with their Jazzy Style of Musical Activation
About the Diamond Jubilators
The Diamond Jubilators are a highly acclaimed international jazz band specializing in music from the 1910s-1930s. Since their formation in 1993, they have given literally thousands of performances in America, England, Wales, Scotland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and Australia in venues ranging from concert halls and clubs, to nursing homes, hospitals, prisons and schools.
A Jubilators concert is not like a regular concert! Their repertoire is a wonderful blend of hot Dixieland jazz, ballads, and novelty numbers. The approach is informal and interactive: wherever appropriate, they encourage their audiences to join in by dancing and singing along.
Their founder, leader, and drummer is John Diamond M.D. Dr. Diamond, bestselling author of twenty-two books, is the world's leading authority on using music as a health modality. All the members of the band, as well as being outstanding musicians, have been personally trained by Dr. Diamond in how to use music therapeutically and are all diplomats of the Institute of Music and Health, South Salem, NY. So, while the Jubilators' concerts are musically exceptional, they are, more importantly, specifically designed to maximize the therapeutic benefits of music. This gives a unique impact to their performances. And, because of their approach, the Jubilators are particularly expert in performing for audiences who are in special categories such as residents of nursing homes, hospitals and prisons, along with children and adults with special needs.
Here's what some people have said about the Diamond Jubilators:
During the concerts I wish you could view the residents through my eyes. What I witness is a temporal transition to normalcy, a suspension of their identities as disabled, old, forgotten, demented, or sick. I see relaxation, joy, flowing spirits, and smiling faces. I see sons and daughters being given a vehicle with which to re-connect to a parent who no longer recognizes them. Yes, music is transforming, but your musical troupe makes it personal for the listener and a higher-level experience.
Since my focus is to enhance quality of life, my satisfaction lies in the lasting effects of the program. Sometimes my new or more tentative residents experience an intuitive reaction and become trusting that this physical space is where good things happen, later agreeing to join our group programs. Some delight in the one-on-one attention they get from the musicians, feeling celebrated and reaffirmed, improves their behavior or mood. Families always go out of their way to tell me how warm and uplifting the experience is. They may not recognize it, but it is therapeutic for them too.
Your music philosophy has depth, your hands-on approach provides quality, and your sincerity makes you our friends.

The first Diamond Jubilators Concert held at our church was on the two-month anniversary of September 11, 2001, as a fundraiser for relief efforts, and afterward one of our members said it was the first day he'd felt like himself since the events of that day. The joyful, heartfelt music uplifted his soul; indeed, we all felt refreshed and renewed! We now host the Diamond Jubilators on a regular basis for Community Outreach Concerts for the elderly, the disabled, and our church members, and each time we have experienced the warm glow of the music, the dancing, the positive energy and sense of oneness brought about by the group. It is an awesome thing to see young and old dancing in the aisles of the church...a 'truly divine' human experience! Thank you, Diamond Jubilators!

More Praise:
"The Diamond Jubilators sparkled. They played some of the grand old songs of long ago, mingled with the crowd, holding the hands of patients in swinging and swaying to such danceable melodies."
"The music was just too much for several patients who, not content to just tap their feet and wave their arms, left their wheelchairs to dance. In that 90 minutes of fun, there was more sunshine inside Waveny than outside on a bright July afternoon. And it lingered a long while after."
"Your Music for Life Enhancement program has been a wonderful expressive opportunity for the residents and brings them such pleasure."
"Your Music program offers the residents the ability to reach within themselves and capture their youth, to raise their voices in excitement and move about in dance within their ability."
"We have no hesitation in recommending the Diamond Jubilators as a group with a uniquely positive viewpoint and which encourages participation in a style guaranteed to maintain interest and maximize enjoyment."
